Subject: the groovy blues authority
I am proud to say I was at this show, the first time I ever saw BT. This show was one of the high points of a long tradition of hot live music at the ATO house, a tradition we bros were proud to have cultivated over the years I was resident there. It amazes me that just a year and a half later they were playing at Red Rocks, a big jump from the front room at the house, which probably held about 300 people that night packed pretty tight, although there seemed to be another three or four hundred partying throughout the rest of the house. I maintained my position next to the soundboard the whole time, where the sound man was more than hospitable the entire night.

My main memory from this show is the unmitigated bluesiness of the band that night, to my ears, they were so very mellow, groovy, rockin'. I thought it was a fairly bright sound, with a nice tempo, but smoky and blue, with the band taking their time on each song. It was hot. How hot the band actually is was confirmed as their fame grew rapidly in the following years. I saw other Blues Traveler shows after this one but I have always liked this one the best.

Notes

- Some spots of diginoise throughout d1t01.
- Tape stopped or flipped after d1t06; other tape flips are between disc changes.
- Setlist archive lists Dropping Some NYC after Mother Funker, but it is not on
this recording.
