This tape jumps right in with Harty singing and then more lead guitar on track 2 before things settle down with Thrill Is Gone. Shortest take ever on MOJO but it establishes Matt as a driver on bass tonight. And the mix sure has a lot of him on the next couple tunes. Matt's playing on track 11 stands out too as it gives Charles more space to do his thing instead of thumping along with his left hand.

Charles and the boys, sans guitars for some reason, hit the groove on Your Love Is Lifting Me Higher - and Larry gets to harmonize. Yes Lord! Larry then leads with a slow blues Who Is Lovin' You Tonight, which is followed by a couple standards. Then for some reason, in the middle of practice, they try the gig-opening tune Scratch My Back. Good take too; Charles the teacher at the end - as he is all thru these tracks.

So on Come Back Baby Charles is wanting RC the student to sound like Stretch the pro - Do Those Rolls... - as they go into 3 originals. Track 18 is cool with Charles explaining a "running bass". All together this is a darn good practice session and Charles is well on the way even as it cuts off on Flip Flop Fly.

Anyone downloading the files to CD, skip track 1 and 21 and I think it will fit a 80 minute CD.

May 2008 Sorry I have not posted for awhile - off on other projects. I gotta say I wonder about this Live Music Archive sometimes - how sometimes a show can get so many hits so fast. Take for instance the 6-22-92 Blue Monday Jam. What is it with that one that it gets so many downloads? Sorta like other sessions that drift along in obscurity and then all of a sudden there are bunches of plays. It's funny! Enjoy this one! SCopeland
