The Capelinhos Vocano erupted off the coast of the island of Faial (Azores, Portugal) in September 1957 and remained active until October 1958.This footage was documented in 1957 by Alzira Neves Simas who had immigrated to America in 1953 but had returned for an extended visit to the neighboring island of Pico.
