Did not find a relation to Charles E Jones and Elizabeth Lively.
The book is nicely compiled with index and easy to read.

Subject: Captain Roger Jones (1891 with 1911 supplement) by Judge Lewis H Jones
Subject: Captain Roger Jones (1891 with 1911 supplement) by Judge Lewis H Jones
Originally releasing this book in 1891, the author doubled the content of the book with a supplement in 1911. The supplement begins at page 283 in this volume. (Some vendors who offer reprints of this title do not include the supplement. See https://archive.org/details/captainrogerjone00byujone for an 1891 version.)
As you may realize from the list of names (which is not inclusive), this family was closely tied with many of the influential families of Virginia and the United States from Jamestown until Judge Jones recorded its history.
I have used this book for reference for 30 years. I find it to be well written, well researched, and quite complete in its genealogy with few errors. In the 1880s, the author reached out to members of the extended family to gather genealogical information and items of interest. The book includes many sections in which information is given in detail and in expository form, from letters received, or documents he examined. Copies of important papers and images are included throughout.
If you are looking for just names & dates, the information may be disappointing. Judge Jones has provided much more than just names & dates,
A folder of materials (letters, etc.) collected by the author for this book is available at the Library of Congress. I wish there had been more.
If you're interested in this family, there is an unpublished typescript (no author given, no date but circa 1930) giving more information about a portion of this Jones family in the collections of the College of William & Mary.
