Decency and Professionalism
A complement which I believe deserves to be mentioned (not only on behalf of CBS but all of the major networks) was the decision not to show live coverage of individuals jumping to their deaths from the World Trade Center towers. Video footage of these events would later surface (as would photos), however the broader picture was presented in the opening moments of the catastrophe - a decision which certainly leant to the professionalism witnessed throughout the broadcasting spectrum on this day.
