Wow! This is a really funny dancing musical comedy. I could not help but notice that the movie was filmed in Technicolor. The version here is black and white. The dance numbers will be fantastic to view again and again if a color version becomes available. Charles Collins was good enough that I am going to search for more of his films. Frank Morgan was funny enough for me to want to watch the Wizard of Oz again and I was disappointed to see that Netflix didn't have anything on the love interest..Steffi Duna. This movie is a prime example of what makes digging through this site worth while. Please!!! Somebody find and post a color version...soon. 5 Stars.

If you lack understanding or imagination, you might not get it, but this movie is funny. Fall down on the floor funny. Victor was good and the plot, hidden from the less worldly, actually very good, especially for the time. Gonna go with 5 stars because it's really a gem in disguise and maybe it'll get some classy viewers. Wow!

This movie was awesome --for a 1930s dance movie... I laughed out loud at parts which is pretty good for something that old. I thought it was funny, creative and better than most public domain movies on here from that time.
...And Ed, you wouldn't really kill your son/nephew and your sister/wife would you? You know what danceaphobia REALLY means right? lol. Just giving you a hard time...

Seriously, what ever happened to the umbrella? I hate it when they leave you hanging...
The man, Frank Morgan, that played the Wizard (et al) in the Wizard of Oz is in this.
I can see what Ed is saying: It was entertaining and it had so much potential, but sadly, the delivery comes out on the mediocre side. I get the feeling there was tension on the set or something, there's just something one degree off about the dynamic between actors and even the balance between the story and all of the dancing.
I can only imagine how grand this film would have been in color. The sets and costumes are quite rich.
There was lots of singing and dancing, I mean it is called "Dancing Pirate", but I don't know if it was any good because I don't like that kind of thing... but what I did see/hear was entertaining enough and I am not at all sorry I watched it.
I only gave it three stars, but I still highly recommend viewing it.

Would you kindly direct me to one of your POSITIVE reviews? I've read many of yours, but haven't found one yet.
Don't get me wrong, many of mine are negative, too, and you have every right to your opinion. Just wondering, is all.
And yeah, the lead sets off my gaydar, too!

The music was good, Victor Varoni was good as usual. Could have been a good movie but poorly written, poorly plotted. Scenery was grand. If a son of mine ever wanted to be a dancer I would take a gun and put him out of his misery and then go into the bedroom and blow his mother's brains out for causing such a disgrace.
