Aaron LennoxPeriodical Cicadas (Magicicada Septendecim) (August 8, 2004)

Various field recordings of the fascinating, and very loud (~140db) sounds made by the 17-year Periodical Cicadas (Magicicada Septendecim) that emerged near Shepherdstown, West Virginia during the summer months of 2004.

Truly amazing creatures. This particular brood (Brood X) will not re-emerge until 2021.

Great captures of another memorable 17-year visit! Their several types are audible throughout the tracks. I can't wait for next time.
