Subject: No Tennis? OK, you/re being a bit harsh.
This was a rather odd surprise.. A 1920's film about behaving in school! I thought for sure the teachers were going to whip out the birch every time they got, but nooo! When some unscrupulous kids break a window or throw chalk in class, they are given a good talking to! And, if worse comes to worse, the teachers will suspend you from playing Tennis! Of course, the kids in this resolve this like no living child I would know. Anyways, again, the other huge thing is the school dress in this. Nearly every girl is dressed as Mary Pickford in a sack dress, and every boy is dressed to the nines. Fascinating documwnt.

Subject: Progressive for its time
In a way, this film was progressive for its time.
Using the student discipline committee with the teacher leader was an excellent. Today, most of this silent early 1920's teacher's instructional film is dated and more of an historical curiosity.

Subject: Only boys cause trouble
As this early teacher training film shows, it's only boys that cause trouble. And then the helpless school marm has to call in the male father figure to discipline the boys. God forbid that a woman tell a male, even a 12 year old one, he is wrong. No, that's a man's job. And those oh-so-unruly boys in their coats, white shirts and ties!

Yet, for it's time, (and maybe still in 2008 USA) it was an extremely liberal position to have an "advisory committee" with kids on it to review discipline and to make kids think about and write about their "misbehavior" rather than whacking them with a paddle in front of the class.
