Subject: Lots of exploration
The exploration is really strong here. The Train really exemplifies the style of jamming - minutes 8 - 13 are some of my favorite.

Codename is fanf*ckingtastic. The more drugs the better.

Subject: Great show! Some deep jams.
I've been seeing these guys since they first started in '04 in that tiny hookah bar in Voorhees, NJ. I couldn't make it to this show, but after listening to it, I think its a good display of their improv, though they have definately matured since the hookah bar days. I wish the quality was a little better, but the playing is great.

The warm-up jam is standard fare, but the set really takes off with the Latin Tune. Around 5:30, they hit a peak and sync up nicely, and then take it into a jam loosely resembling a Free jam.

They take it way down and find jam into a dyslexic version of the Train, their first backwards tune that I know of, starting it off with the slow, spacey section.

The Train (track 4) starts normally enough, but gets deep. Actually, it sounds like they were trying to have a "normal" guitar solo in the middle (after the bass section), but it wasn't really taking off, and then they bring it way down and start exploring a darker area, from which they emerge into a furious jam. I have to listen to the studio version again, but I think they even skipped over a whole section of the song.

Overall, a great performance, though its a little short, and the quality could be a little better.

Notes

* - improv warm-up
** - the end of "The Train"

This is the only available recording of this show - 2 room mics were used, recorded with Digital Performer. We've been unable to contact the original taper to find out what kind of mics, software settings, and hardware (interface, mix board, etc.) he used. The show doesn't sound bad though, and we couldn't let some of these jams go unheard.

Enjoy!
