Yen-Ming ChenThe Coffee House - Forum (2007)

In 2006, Donna Edwards, a little known executive director of a social change-oriented foundation nearly upset then 7-term incumbent Al Wynn in the Democratic congressional primary for Maryland's 4th district, which borders on the District of Columbia. Edwards faulted Wynn for supporting the Bush-Cheney Energy Bill, a bankruptcy bill crafted by the credit card industry, the elimination of the Estate Tax, and other policies that put Wynn at odds with his very blue constituency. Despite Wynn tacking left since 2006, Edwards is again challenging him this year, saying that Wynn's born-again progressivism is phony, and she's picked up considerable national support from activist groups.
