Subject: A good story pleasantly read
Agree with previous reviewer on both counts.

This is a very good story. Very pleasant throughout - different from the usual mining story genre, which, more often than not, is gloomy and dismal.

The reader has a soft and pleasant voice, and read well. I particularly enjoyed hearing the Cornish miner accents - the reader made it quite realistic, and very entertaining!

Subject: Great Lakes fiction
@ListeninginChicago, I'm so glad you enjoyed this book; I did too! I've been tracking down other Great Lakes fiction books, so keep an eye open for the Samuel Merwin books--The Merry Anne and Calumet K, which are both set in Chicago and Michigan,

Subject: Fun adventure for young boys (and girls)
This was a fun adventure - with an admirable hero and plenty of excitement, plus a chance to learn about mining in the late 1800's.

Betsie Bush does an excellent job reading this solo project for Librivox.
