I was in-between albums and feeling a little frisky so I decided to do some sort of something with all the Comfortstand material that had been released to date (at the time of the creation of these recordings the catalog was up to 26 albums and 6 singles). What I wound up doing (all in one night) was choosing one song, pretty much completely at random although the track length and titles influenced my decisions somewhat (I was more apt to choose the shortest tracks and track titles I liked), from each Comfortstand release (ep's, lp's, and singles excluding my releases), then listening to the selected tracks and choosing one or two (at least and never more than three or four) samples from each song also pretty much at random, (that is to say I selected parts I liked but did not check to see if or think about how each sample would mesh with every other sample), and then sitting down and throwing it all together to try and come up with a cohesive and completely new song. Considering the randomness of the process I was quite astonished and pleasantly surprised to see how everything I tried during the mixing fit so well together. Yay. Then, I decided to do it again. So the next night I went through and chose a different song from each release, sampled those in the same way, and mixed "Song #2". Which I must say I am particularly proud of. It took quite a bit of coercing to get Mrs. Grossman to say "fortyone".
As for the cover picture I used ArcSoft Collage Creator and took a piece of the artwork of every Comfortstand release I sampled (they're all in there!) and assembled what you see.
