Subject: Grindcore at it's finest
It seems to me like the former Soviet Union is going through a similar musical renaissance as the UK, did in the mid 80's early 90's. Whether they are emulating music they are hearing, or are following the same path, a decade and a half later I'm not sure.
Picking up where Napalm Death left off after the second album, or Carcass after their second album, or going on like Extreme Noise Terror continues to come Necrocannibalistic Vomitorium. All the elements are there the fuzzy bass guitar, the crunchy rhythmn/lead guitar, the frenetic drumming style, and the sometimes screeching sometimes growling vocal style.
That it is in a language I don't understand doesn't worry me, I could never understand Lee Dorrian, I could never make out Jeff Walker, or John Tardy for that matter. The energy jumps out your speakers and grabs you by the throat. The porn samples at the beginning of some of the songs, don't really do much for me, maybe they work well in a live situation, the Carcass autopsy photo shows used to be pretty damn effective at their shows, but I could do without 10 seconds of sexual panting before the music begins, then again with microsongs I guess every extra second helps pad out the CD a little.
Grindcore didn't die after Scum era Napalm Death split up and slowed down, it continued with such bands as Gut and now the torch is blazing strongly in the former Soviet Bloc, with bands like Necrocannibalistic Vomitorium, definitely check this one out. 2006 sees the release of a new album, so the guy/girl/guy trio seems to be going strong.
