Subject: This is not crap
This isn't crap. It's good. Better than most of the stuff in the cinema today. This trailer is not crap.

Subject: Great Trailer for a Great Film
It must of been pretty difficult to sell "The Day The Earth Stood Still" to the american public, But this trailer does a good job. It's one of the biggest hits of the 50's! Those who saw this film back then were impressed by the clever script and great dialog.
However, You really must see the film to understand how good this film is, As the trailer had no way to sum up the complex film in 2 minutes

Subject: We need Klatu now.
It would be nice if he could come here now and zap the hell out of that idiot Mr. Bush. It was historic in its portrayal of the U.S as the bad guys, which these days is more often than not,and that took a lot of guts back in 51. Unfortunately our government would like to go back to those days where it was never questioned and everyone thought it was just a great and noble leader of the free world. We all no that is about as big a lie as you will ever see. Our government is,by far,the most corrupt and money hungry government in the world. Before any of you close-minded conservatives start saying that I hate the country, and that I should leave if I dont like it,I love the country, just hate the idiots that are currently running it. Come Klatu, take care of our problems for us...lol.

IÂve actually never seen this, even though I know the beginning off by heart (UFO comes to earth.. Alien has a threatening weapon! ItÂs actually a cure for cancer! Foolish alien. What do you EXPECT the army to do when you brandish a foreign object in front of them? Anyways, the trailer doesnÂt really show anything else. Maybe Klaatu (amazing I still remember the AlienÂs name) goes on a rampage? Not too sure. One of these days IÂll find out..

Subject: That's "Klatu, Verada Nichto"
This trailer for *the greatest Cold War sci-fi classic of all time* sells the movie as just another "the aliens are attacking" thriller. As a result of this trailer, I'm sure a lot of movie goers were disappointed to discover a movie using the daring (for 1951) "the U.S. government as the bad guy" plot device, not revealed in the trailer, that this classic was one of the first to exploit.

This was the film that started the sci-fi craze of the 50s and 60s. Althought the special effects are laughable today, one must remember that this was state-of-the-art in 1951. With that caveat, everything about this film is superb or nearly superb. It is essentially a cold war plea for global understanding and cooperation wrapped in a classic sci-fi thriller.

One gets only the barest glimpse of the dramatic depth of this piece from the trailer. However, I don't think it would have been possible to do any better. The story is just to deep to cover in two minutes and thirteen seconds.

I don't much like the dramatic subtitles, but they were common at the time. Overall this is an excellent trailer.
