The sound is pretty average on this show, but if you're up for hearing a full two set Biscuits show from early '97 this is the first one on the Internet Archive. Musically this sounds pretty fair, but much of the vocals are buried - especially Brownstein's. A couple odd one's in "Disco Bisquick" which is largely a vehicle for introducing the band, and "Liquid Lazer" which is actually the third part of "Pat & Dex" by itself. All in all one for the hardcore Biscuits fan.

Even the mastery of Rich Steele cannot completely salvage the sound quality, nevertheless, it is listenable to the non-audiophile, and the performance is definitely worth checking out.
Immediately, your eyes are drawn to the Trooper -> Pygmy -> Trooper etc. segment, which, despite being gimmicky, is very well played and results in a rousing Morph ending. However, the real meat of this set is the narrated Basis -> Ac2b. I wish it was a little easier to understand Barber during the Basis story; his personality was definitely a factor in the Biscuits reaching larger audiences.
The second set highlights include the Barfly -> Liquid Lazer (with Pat & Dex lyrics) and the Disco Bisquick -> Soul Sacrifice transition. This is the only version of Disco Bisquick available on the Archive and it's a pretty neat song--according to Barber, it's the band's "Disco Song." I'd be open to them bringing it back for a special performance (maybe next February at the E Fac?)
Overall, this show gets 3 stars; I wish I could rank the setlist higher but the muddy sound definitely detracts a bit from the overall quality. Still worth your time if you're doing a survey of 97.
