I was there (my first show) & the distortions you speak of were sbd droputs. So, no one heard them at the show....I guess this just shows the sound problems that used to plague the band in '99 (thankfully those are mostly over).

Subject: SOUNDBOARD!!!
This is an excellent show! I find that something very essential is lost on audience recordings of the Disco Biscuits (DB). Something elusive about their sound really lends itself to soundboard recordings when compared to other jambands. This is one of the few DB soundboards within the Internet Archive. The band sounds great and it's like an official release but...there are digital distortions on the recordings. They are very minor, but every once in awhile it seems that the volume in a part of a song is artifically turned down and then back up again -really quickly. It's minor and shouldn't scare you away from an otherwise amazing soundboard, just know that it's not flawless. Disclaimer: I could be mistaken about the digital distortion thing -it could be intentional use of the the band's equipment. Listen to the show and post your thoughts on the topic.
