Subject: Badass Biscuits!!!
Subject: Badass Biscuits!!!
Thanks for this kickass sounding old gem!!! Team Schoeps represent 🔥🔥🔥 Nothing like an old MK xx -> V2 -> AD1K recording. So glad i sold my MBHO setup after Superball in 2011 and bought an MK 41 -> Sonosax setup. Wish I'd have done in 12 years sooner when I bought my AKG 481 -> DMIC-20 setup with my HS graduation money. Better late than never though and my Schoeps recordings since fall 2011 are my best ever IMO 😎👍🙏✌️🕺 I've had MK 4, 41, 21 and now I have two Schoeps KCY rigs with MK 4 V and MK 41 V capsules -> 2x Schoeps KCY cables -> 2x pairs of Naiant +60v/Low Noise PFA's (soon to be 2x backup pairs of +40v/Low Noise PFA's in case something happens to my +60v pairs) -> Sound Devices Mixpre6 and Mixpre3 recorders. Team Schoeps is by far the BEST sounding mics, regardless of the gear behind it and the era it was recorded in 20+ years ago.
Anyway, sorry for the rant! This is a super DOPE Biscuits show IMO and I'm very happy to add it to my massive collection. It makes me very sad that I didn't say FU&$ it and go to Philly for NYE with my homie!! I was just too scared about the COVID madness and short on funds to do a Biscuits NYE run properly hahaha 🤣😁
Long live the Biscuits!!! And IMO, no offense to the B+K/DPA taper of this wonderful show, but the Schoeps source smokes it. Those B+K/DPA mics can sound KILLER in the right spot for the right band and in the right venue, but they're nowhere near as versatile as the Schoeps are, which sound amazing pretty much anywhere and everywhere, for a huge range of different bands/venues/soundguys, and the B+K/DPA just don't have anywhere near as good of the low-end and natural sound that Schoeps possess. Before I ran Schoeps personally, I thought they had a somewhat exaggerated low-end/bass response. But once I ran them myself and compared them to other sources, both indoors and outdoors at festivals, i quickly found out they're very true to the live sound you are hearing, and other mics just have a little bit too much high-end/treble in some situations!!! But im still thankful to have the B+K/DPA source too!!! It was the only source/recording for this amazing show, up until one month ago (December 9, 2021) when the Schoeps recording was finally added!!! I've uploaded over 1,500+ recordings personally just to the archive over the last 15 years by myself (not including bit torrents on etree of Phish and hundreds of other various bands, and to my own MediaFire account) ,so I totally know how much work is involved in taping, processing/mastering and then uploading!!! That said, download the Schoeps source and thank me later. Its nothing but gooey goodness that will have you rawkin' out immediately!!!
Sorry for the long review and semi-rant, but I wanted to explain my thoughts and background about why i prefer the Schoeps MK 4 source. BOTH recordings are great of this fabulous show, so DL it immediately!!!
