Nothing to be gained by disagreeing with the previous dozen reviews, but I just cant help it....
Don't get me wrong- I think this is a good show, especially the House Dog (the syncing up back into the Sanitarium verse and then the Sammy/ Barber overlay to soar to the finish--> ridiculous) and some of the spacebird, but I can't hop on board with the best ever calls, or even best of '01 (Roseland, parts of Wetlands and Detroit are all on par and better to my ears). I'll never tell someone they're wrong for thinking one show is better than another-- how can anyone tell anyone else that, no matter how much we all try?-- and I LOVE that the boys are all "feelin it," but I don't think either of the big sandwiches are anything all that extraordinary, except the >crickets which is nasty. Waves and Mulberry's are solid, but unspectacular to me, and then the second set peters out after that, until the cool AC2B. I'm sure this show was awesome to be at, and the House Dog IS fantastic (turn it up and pay attention!), but overall I dont see this one as best of anything. Just another opinion-- they're like assholes, after all....
But you should all still listen to it because it certainly has its moments, and what the hell else are you going to do for the next couple of hours?

Show started after 2am, went until 7 or 8 in the morning (pretty long break) I talked to Marc after and his eyes were about a 2ga. Three outta four in the band we're "really feeling it" as he pointed to his tounge. One of my favs!

After having this show in my rotation for the last 4 years, i must say that it is one of the best. it DESERVES my 5-stars, plus 2. HDPF is solid; sammy's ride cymbal work is unmatched anywhere else. the spacebird intro will make your speakers rumble while mark & sam go back & forth like nothing i've ever heard. The stars were aligned on this night (morning) in NOLA. the second set is my favorite set of music ever. the setlist cannot be topped. mulberry's, crix invasion are ALL out of this world. I could go on & on... this show... in.sane.

Excellent show. Colorful, dynamic, extremely clear. Flows with the pulse of life. Long one of my favorite shows. Dublights is slightly lacking for me, but the remainder of the night is solid as hell. Haven't heard this source, but this is a fantastic show. Band is in a great head space, and extremely united. Excellent.

I did the tour down to Jazz Fest that April. The Biscuits were the late night show which began at around 3 am. Pauly, who was a kid who was one of their faithful early years roadies, broke his foot earlier that day and was all hobbled on crutches. Mark announced that the last set was dedicated to him. We all started chanting Pauly. The craziest thing about the show was that the band dropped acid for this show. I know that it sounds like I am talking out of my ass trying to sound cool but it's true. If you listen to Waves you can even hear someone yell out LSD. Mark told me before the show that they figured they could pull it off so they all..except Sammy (pretty sure he didn't)..took liquid before the show. The waves is phenominal..and the Crickets still moves me to this day. The Mulberrys dream is so intense...you just gotta listen. The show ended after the sun had risen and we all spilled into the dank smelling stale beer streets of New Orleans..just a few blocks from the French Quarter. The best part of the show for me was when the lights came up during an intense transition and Mark's eyes were filled with this absolute pychadelic glow..still makes me smile to think about it.

This was the show that really made up my mind that tDB was the best band playing. I remember first getting this off Adam Foley's site and the sound was perfect. I don't think this source is as nice, but it still kicks. I am waiting for the soundboards to come out on Disclogic. Absolutely crazy HDPF and Spacebird - both in serious contention for best ever. And any show with a Crix/Munchkins sandwich is a recipe for insanity.

Nice 01 show. Setlist is superb. Performances are very good too. Nice hdpf opener. Two gooey sandwiches in Jigsaw Dublights and Crickets Invasion, funky ac2b encore, sounds great. Pick it up!

THIS SHOW IS THE ABSOLUTE TITS!!!! Seriously, not many talk about it, but it is an insane fucking show Dublights, sick Jigsaw Munchkins and Crix. I don't know if I heard it from this source, but if it's the same as the one I have, the quality is outstanding as well. You all owe it to yourselves to download this baby; if for no other reason, the setlist is one of the best ever constructed.
