Subject: When the Disco Biscuits Were Said to Melt Faces
I think of this show as an exemplar of precisely how this band altered the musical landscape for its fans in the 99-02 era.
This show has everything, a warbly but unexpected Eulogy opener, a breezy 7-11 into a thunderous conclusion of Munchkin from the night prev. in Worcester, a thorough TVM, RLH is a Set 2 appetite whetter and then...
Jesus Holy Smokes, do things get twisted, manic and cork-blowing in Crix>Shelby>Crix; while there are some things as good as that portion of music in their canon; they have never done anything to exceed that fusion of emotional impact with artistic intensity in their entire career.
This was the good ol' days folks and it doesn't get any better than this.

Arriving in NYC, we stopped at the Hotel and then went down to the Roseland. My first show outside CA. A much needed break after a particularly difficult year. Had a blast. Getting in, we were forced to wait forever in the freezing east coast chill as the line proceeded one person at a time. We were relatively on time, and still didn't get in until Very Moon. Got inside the theater duringg the second jam. Sound towards the back was awful. I didn't get around much to find a decent spot and settled for less.
The jam into Run Like Hell was huge. Truly frightening and a bit therapeutic. Great performance.
Second set began with a M.E.M.P.H.I.S. so fat that I was a bit shocked that the band was capable of such a fantastic sound. The energy was truly over the top.
Crix>RoseShelby>Criz was muddy as the room, but discs later revealed the jam to be outstanding. the Housedog that follwed was equally fine, although standard.
The encore was fantastic. A friend quipped with regard to the Lai and the B+C, "the spaceship landed." Alien talk permeates this closer. Good stuff.
Got some rest, and onward to Philly for NYE.

comes in the crix > shelby, and the following inversion. But everything else is so incredibly powerful also...my first show and still possibly my favorite. Memphis is just bursting at the seams, and the bernstein and chasnoff actually makes me not hate that song. NOt gonna comment about every song, but there's not a single miss among them.

EULOGY OPENER! Another piece of the best new years run (more than 2 shows) they ever did. The highlight is definately the crickets>inv. shelby>crickets, but the Very Moon>Run Like Hell is not far behind. I give this one 4 stars only in comparison to the rest of the run.

This seg will make you cry. It is one of the most ragging biscuits jams ever. I cannot believe that no one has reviewed this show yet. The rest of the show is great as well. (Even the Little Lai Bernstein and Chasnoff)
