Subject: Great
I saw Dan play about a week or two later in Flagstaff and really enjoyed the experience. The sound quality on this show is stellar and Dan plays with loads of passion.

Subject: Excellent recording, even better content
This is a very high quality soundboard recording of a concert just before the 2004 US "election". Dan Bern's catchy acoustic-based songs are full of amusing and politically direct content which deserve the widest hearing in the US. I'm sure he doesn't get much radio play.

Subject: A great show!
Sound Quality: 5 of 5 stars. Soundboard. The instruments (Dan's guitar / vocals / harmonica) are all loud and clear, and you can hear some crowd cheers distantly from time to time, but not really, since it is a soundboard recording.
Show Quality: 4 of 5 stars. This was the first Dan Bern show I listened to on the archive. I had heard of his music back in 2001 on a just started san diego, ca truely independant radio station, 92.1 FM. The DJ was a girl named Anya Marina and she was introducing 'God Said No'. The song struck with me, and here four years later I see Dan approved for the LMA! I grabed this show because it was on the 'this day in history' box on the front page, and because it had streaming mp3s. A fun find ... the show Anya was talking about is also talked about http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=9152 here with Jason Mraz, as Jason Mraz was opening the show.
As far as this Dan Bern recording, he's an intresting singer/songwriter. He has lots of 'left-leaning' lyrics / songs. He is obviously against President Bush and makes no mystery about it. What I really liked is that at times his voice sounds just like Bob Dylan. Especially when he throws in his harmonica. Definately listen to the songs "President", "Great Alaskan Highway", "God Said No", "New American Language", and "Tiger Woods". The encore is nice as another musician joins Dan with an electric guitar. A really fun show to put on and just groove to. Of note is that the show is in Ohio in Oct 2004, two weeks before the American Presidential Election. Ohio is a 'swing state', and Dan was doing his best to make sure bush didn't win. A great show!
