Glass Jaw chronicles the filmmaker's recovery from a pistol whipping and his ensuing emergency brain surgery in July 1991. All of the voices, words, music and images are by Michael O'Reilly. Glass Jaw uses the Pixelvision PSL200 camera as the primary image generator and the Casio SK-1 sampling keyboard for all of the sound effects and music. Produced by Michael O'Reilly (Philadelphia, PA). and The Unfinished Symphony is an experimental, autobiographical documentary of a spinal fusion operation. Footage used in the video depicts the medical/technical side of surgery as well as the thoughts and feelings experienced before, during, and after the operation. In addition to this actual footage, there are a variety of symbolic representations including, a vase, a nude model, a chef cooking meat, a sadistic cannibalistic surgeon and an autopsy. The video is set to the tune of Franz Schubert's Symphony #8 in B minor (Unfinished). This video is the first part of a series entitled, The Spinal Trilogy, by producer Julie Puzon.
