tears of joy
14 years had pass, since i stepped foot in shoreline. From the opening note i had chills during the entire show. Have to admit that a couple tears of joy sprang from my eye, as i heard the begging of dew. and no it wasn't the grateful dead, but it was still THE DEAD!!! 09 tour smokes 03-04.Sounded like warren says fish of fools in one verse.

Subject:
This is not a Grateful Dead show
I was at this show. The Grateful Dead were not there. There was a band there called The Dead and they played a lot of Grateful Dead songs. I can't believe I have to say this but theres a big difference between this and a 70's Grateful Dead show. You all know this. Why fight it?
That said, the setlist was spectacular. The playing was decent but you could tell they didnt practice any of the gems they were dusting off together much, if at all. Changing Masons Childeren was a mistake. They need a new soundman at Shoreline. The Dead were better and much tighter in Charlotte '04. However, the encore that night was a pitiful 5 minute U2 song as opposed this awesome encore. The Dead treated Shoreline like home on this tour.
Sure grab this show and the other one from Shoreline a few nights before. But don't think for one second that this is a Grateful Dead concert. You know its not and you know why. Anyone with ears and a brain can tell the difference.
Listen to the Grateful Dead!
Go see the Dead when they come to your town since there's no Grateful Dead to follow around.

They meant biz from the JackStraw
Was at this show and you knew they meant biz from when they took OFF in Jack Straw. At the end of JS we looked at each other and said, YES, this is the stuff right here, its the GRATEFUL DEAD, and we were damn lucky to see them that night. Thanks for the show.

too spacey?
The new potatoe>born crosseyed might have been the highlight of the entire tour. I noticed someone mention they didn't like it in an earlier post. Not to mention the Morning Dew with Warren on vocals. Maybe the best show of the tour. Don't diss the spacey music.

Wow- did they really finally "bring it on"
Truly amazing night- I have been listening to most of the tour, and have not bee all that interested until the show a few nights earlier with the Viola>Bertha>Viola- sounded fantastic. Warren has done something remarkable- Deciding not to try and mimic Jerry, either in styleor tone, he has now somehow mahnaged to work his phrasing and tone into the mix of the other players and it works here with stellar results. The Terrapin is MAGNIFICENT. THe Estimated soars. Scarlet>Fire as an Encore? YOu gotta be kidding me. Crazy Fingers was another Top hilite- very very well done. I am finally convinced of the viability of this lineup

download problem solution
I had the same download problem but when I downloaded the file to "open with winzip" instead of "save" I was able to extract it fine.
I was at this show and I enjoyed it very much!

Difficult To Download But Worth It!
I had a very hard time downloading this show for unknown reason decompression failed at least five times - and the download cut off at least five other times - but finally got it and SWEET SWEET SWEET. God bless you, taper! Hope you had a "high time" on the lawn at Shoreline> Did you see Chad Champagne there?

norwegian wood
nice little norwegian wood tease during the n.p.c. jam. some interesting transitions. the standing-> terrapin is rather abrupt.
overall nice execution and solid recording. however, once again, there's so much audience chatter! oh well, guess i'm a bit picky about that, though it was never a worry back in the day.
these guys have completed one heck of a solid tour. that takes a tremendous amount of energy. thank you band, and thank you tapers.

What a great night!
I was lucky enough to be at this show. I have listened to nearly every show from this tour and I don't think I would have traded any other night for this one! (Ok, maybe one of the Branford nights....) Thanks to the tapers for giving me another chance to enjoy this show so quickly. Sound on the recording is good. A solid 4 stars for both the show and the sound quality. (My heart says 5 stars for the show but I think I am biased)
It is The Dead, will they ever be as good as they once were? Doubtful, but that is life. We all can't be in our 20's forever. While the songs may be a little slower the magic that I felt in the air was as real as it can be. Warren is THE MAN! I can only hope that they will head out on the road again soon and keep it going as long as they can. I will be there with them every chance I get!

THANX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Right on Loser Boy!! I've been haggling back & forth with all the whiners since this tour started
I miss Jerry as much,or more than anyone else, but Warren has done a wonderful job,and has been pretty humble about the shoes that he's filling! I love this band, and I'm not one to love anything that the core 4 touches.Unless it's good, and this is much more than good! These guys are feeling it,and that shines through in the music! I hope that they keeep on truckin',but I know that they're getting up there in age,so this could be the last time! I certainly hope not,but if so,it's one hell of a last tourIMO!! Thanx to all the tapers for all the time & hard work, and to the archive!!! PEACE,LOVE,& The Grateful goddamn Dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good vibes
finally nice to see people giving nice reviews. a lot of negative vibes were floating around this forum at the beginning of the tour. guess The Dead isn't dead after all. Change Rocks! but we still miss ya Jerry. I haven't even listened to this show yet but from the two reviews before mine i can tell there is energy at this show. so thanks taper and to those who have something positive to add for the tapers hard work--show the love

great recording! thx
dude, gr8 sound, felt like i was ther! i saw 20+ g dead shows @ shore and this recording made me feel like i was ther w/my bros & sis.thank u and i know ya'll had a gr8 time this was a special hometown show, w/a few days for the boyz to chill at home and usually local shows had lots of fam n frineds in the house. i guess i attended many bay area shows b/c they were so "laid" back, being from east coast was a cool n different dynamic, having seen a few New years runs and greek runs, kaiser, oaklnd, frost, total prob close to 100 bay area shows, so this many years later its nice to see/hear the dream lives on! jer we miss u and know u are proud ur vision and story is still being displayed n lives on ,

Too spacey
I've seen a couple hundred shows and this one was pretty slow. Didn't really get rolling until the end. New Potato Caboose > Born cross eyed could be one of the worst songs I've heard live ever. A very good Mason's Children and a good Scarlet/Fire.

Sounds Great... Too bad they moved the taping section to the lawn instead of right behind the Soundboard like the old days...
