Subject: Excellent Show
Interesting show. Contrary to one reviewer's comment, the enthusiasm of the band is really palpable-- and that can be seen in what's being called the "retooling" of the songs. Dead Heads' culture has always been to appreciate the individuality of each song and that's why we spend our time listening to live recordings instead of studio; some of us should be a bit more Grateful to be around to see this extremely tight-knit era of Grateful Dead's history.
I need to know if there's gonna be an upload of the previous night's show-- the St. Stephen into the Eleven was magic!
Also, as a comment to the uploader:
Your formatting is pretty messy. Nothing is capitalized and song names aren't spelled right; when I download this to my computer it is downloaded as a different album for each song instead of all being compacted into one (not all the uploads do this). I think that a cleaner job would benefit not only the thousands of people listening to this recording you've uploaded (which sounds awesome, by the way) but also your personal archive skills.
Thanks for the upload!

I just read what you wrote, (below...), here, re: 6-15-2019, 'Reviews". WELL 'SAID' !!! -
I've been listening to the Grateful Dead since I was 13yrs. old, circa;1976. ;) Saw my first show Halloween, 1979- Nassau Coliseum, LI, NY. After listening to the recently posted Y.T. video- of "Sugaree", ("D & C" Summer Tour - 2019...), I WENT ONLINE AND BOUGHT 2- TIX. TO THE HALLOWEEN SHOW @ MSG, NYC, - 40yrs to the day/date of my "First Ever", - AND I HAVE EVERY REASON TO BE 'PSYCHED'-
BIG TIME !!!!! I Simply DON'T AGREE WITH
"AoxomoxoA's" review here, or overall, respectively. The way I see it, where 'WE-are", IS, exactly where "Weir" supposed to be. As an ENTRENCHED 'DEAD HEAD' of 40+ YEARS, I am DELIGHTED BY THE NEW-FOUND ENERGY that has resulted in 'The Raising of "Dead & Co.". THE CREATIVE PROCESS OF IMPROVISED JAMS that has always made this group what they are IS BACK!!! AND THEY SOUND BETTER THAN THEY HAVE IN TOO MANY YEARS. If Garcia isn't "channeling" himself THROUGH MAYER'S FINGERS, then ya' just gotta' believe he's truly got "...nothin' left ta' do but SMILE, SMILE, SMILE!!!" And ANYONE WHO ISN'T LISTENING, THEY'RE MISSING "THE RIVER, SING[ING] SWEET SONG'S..." that are ROCKIN' THE SOULS once again. Folks CAN'T KEEP LOOKING BACKWARDS. BOBBY'S PLAYING REALLY WELL. AND THE REALIZATION OF HOW MUCH HIS RHYTHM HAD BEEN OVERSHADOWED BY GARCIA'S LEADS IS NOW APPARENT. Without Bobby, the VERY SOUND of the Band wouldn't happen. This has become most noticeable with the advent of mp3 players and the crispness of digital recording.
I am just SO HAPPY TO HEAR GOOD OLE' GRATEFUL DEAD TUNES BEING PUT 'OUT-THERE' ONCE AGAIN. IT'S AS GOOD AS IT'S EVER BEEN, AND THE NATURAL WAY IN WHICH THE NEWLY ADDED MINSTRELS HAVE ADAPTED, MAKES "DEAD & Co." THE NEXT CHAPTER OF THE LARGER STORY...... BE GRATEFUL !!!!!!
.....SO- now 5-days post MSG-Show, 10-31-19, and 'Dead & Co.' played a 'Good' show at The Garden ON HALLOWEEN, at least. (Haven't read set lists from 11/1- yet, or heard anything either...). Honestly, nothing jumps out as particularly surprising or unusual (to me) about the concert. Perhaps the first set closer, "Terrapin", began with the ANTICIPATION of something unique, but then the song kind-of ended rather abruptly, instead of meandering a bit beyond the lyrics. And just before leaving the stage, Mickey 'gave Oteil his (Rythm-Devils) Horns. And a humorous 'Horning' of sorts took place before the break lights came up. Being a 'middle-aged', life-long NY'er, one can become a bit unphased by Madison Square Garden. But it does have an intimate grandeur unlike any other concert hall, to be sure. Yes, it IS, for some reason, one of THE premiere places to see ANY show. And is most often the 'hall' of choice when a band plays multiple concerts in the 'tri-state' area. Thursday night was no exception.

Not sure why this was listed as a board if no patch indicated. U don’t need mikes if ur patched out of the board. Jus sayin. If I’m wrong please tell me how so. Also the people complaining about the pace or tempo, go see jrad or something else if u need to dance in a frenetic state. Tempo shmempo we dance our asses off at d an co. Tired of hearing the same bs rehashed by peeps who ‘heard’ the same thing and think they sound cool saying the same dam thing. Go peddle ur jargon someplace else. ✌️❤️

I was at this show and the energy was amazing. Admittedly, I have been skeptical of the various post-Dead formations. But, this combination, in my opinion, is playing some pretty inspiring music right now. It's not '73 or even '90s Dead, but it's pretty great.

I went to both shows with my girlfriend and was blown away by how incredible they played. I saw D and C in STL 2015, couch toured for 2016 and 17 and went to Alpine night 2 last year. So, I've heard the progression from a band finding it's footing to what we have now, which is something to behold. The tempo thing is a bogus argument at this point. You can pick any song throughout the Grateful Dead's history and hear plenty of tempo changes, I agree with others that say JRAD and the like have played the songs WAY too fast and have skewed perceptions. I love how you put up Terrapin just as they started it, BAM right into it. Great mix of band and crowd, thanks for the memories dude!!

Thanks for posting this show! It is great to listen to the other performances in the tour. I agree with other posters that the retooling of the songs can be disappointing. I want to go to Citi Field or Foxborough and DANCE! I don't feel led to dance by the pace of the current songs. I give the recording of the show a **** but the energy of the band as a *.

First of all John Mayer is a World class player who can eject his own into the music and still stay faithful to the original work of Garcia. Oteil is a monster bass player who also injects a spirit of joy into what he is doing. Weir has become a better singer over the years or at least better in his ability to tell a story. And ofc his unique guitar style is essential to the music. The drummers still have their special beat and Jeff is a masterful keyboard player. (I know the nostalgics will fume over this but I would call Jeff a 'better' keyboardist than any of the original members (Hornsby excluded)).
The tempo issue is highly exaggerated especially on this tour. And I honestly think that bands like JRAD has given people a distorted view of tempo and GD music.
So to me this is by far the best post Dead figuration. And actually I have seen here and there that quite a few long time haters of the band has changed their mind recently. So to me it seems very understandable that more and more people go to their concerts.

Decent recording here, but I just dont get the music. I love all these guys, but the songs are soooooooo slooooowwww. Tedious. Even the fills seem forced. Oteil always way too low in the mix, drummers and weir way too high and tinny. And not just this show. I have tried to enjoy this music, and have heard a couple good song performances. but on the whole, this seems to be one of the least enjoyable incarnations of post GD dead music. Not trying to hate, would honestly love for someone to explain to me why this band is worth seeing.

This show is a bit of an enigma to me. It is unquestionable that the boys are tighter than ever and are hitting on all cylinders yet it seems there are times where they are trying too hard to experiment with the retooling of songs. That being said, they are still making fantastic music. Thanks for posting the show.
