Subject: Mind splitting
Subject: Mind splitting
This was the first Dead and Co show that I have seen.
Recently, I have been listening to a lot of Grateful Dean shows on the archive, and I saw that Dead & Co was performing at Madison Square Garden, so I got tickets for this show.
Even though I had listened to the Dead pretty much exclusively for months, I didn't consider myself a Deadhead before I saw this show, but at some point in the second set, my mind split open and I was on the bus. So this show is at least that good.
There was one fun little trip that happened for me during this show: At the beginning the second set, I had my eyes closed and was enjoying the Scarlet Begonias as it was moving into Fire on the Mountain. When a new voice started singing, which, in my reverie, I believed was Jerry Garcia's! My eyes popped open immediately, only to see that it was Oteil Burbridge who had not sung a note until then.
Listening back, he doesn't sound all that much like Jerry, but for a fraction of a second, Jerry was there for me, which was fun.
The next song was He's Gone, whose sadness was amplified for me, after that experience.

Thanks for the great recording JT/NY.
Feel as though this is Dead and Co., 3.0.
Lucky to see Dead and Co., 1.0, Nov 1, 2015 as there were just starting out. Check out this great set on achive.org. I believe their second show.
The maturity and connection the members have for, and with, each other now is powerful dynamic and SO GOOD! Thanks guys!

Stunning! This may very well be the best Friend of the Devil that I have ever heard. I have heard one or two. Please feel free to slap me up if I am out of line, it happens. Anyway, I believe that this rendition of FOTD has a generous hint of that high lonesome sound. I'll tell you what, I love me some Pigpen, ya know he would just bellar Big Boss Man or Mr. Charlie, and Pig and I both love Otis, hard to find anyone can pour out their soul in a number like Otis, but for some reason, that high lonesome sound takes me out at the knees. Had not heard of Maggie, very beautiful singing. Thanks again for sharing

Sounds absolutely great. I was there the night before and was looking forward to hearing this. BTW, the First Encord should be "The Weight" (singular).
Really a nice recording. Thanks.
