Subject: to 'keeperofthelight' & by the way, a good show.

This is, as usual,, a good show. Also a good job of taping. Almost all these shows taped and uploaded by John Travitz and Keith Litzenberger are the best of the choices! Not only good but consistent in quality.
In reference to 'an old quote' by keeperofthelight, below: I believe the old quote you mentioned was a remark by Bill Graham long ago, but it was not the same as the words you quoted; in fact Graham's words were nearly opposite in meaning. Introducing the Grateful Dead at a concert, he announced, "They aren't only the best at what they do, they are the ONLY ONES WHO DO WHAT THEY DO!"
...which is quite different in meaning.

Subject: John isn't "leaving the band"...
Subject: John isn't "leaving the band"...
Why do people still think John leaving is why Dead & Company are ending? I keep asking for someone to supply a quote or a source for that information and no one can. John has said he would never close the door on Dead and Company AND that he believed the band could go on without the original members. Bob didn't have to play with John for eight years, he chose to do so. He likes playing with him. He asked John to do the acoustic duo set with him last year, didn't have to. It's like people are blind to the fact that both drummers are not well. Jay Lane is along on this tour, for obvious reasons, and there are people sitting in during Drums. Billy has been needing oxygen to get through shows for a couple years now. Mickey also has health problems. I mean, look, I have no skin in this game and I'm happy any way things go down. I have loved Dead & Company from the start because I'm a lifelong Deadhead and I never hated John Mayer. I was just happy to get more shows, more tours. But any way I look at this, taking Bob's statement that they'll be out there in some form until they drop into account, I'm guessing we're going to see a different lineup that still includes Bob, Jeff, John and Oteil. Nobody wants to see any of the original members go (or I guess I don't, anyway), but does anybody really want to see them die on stage? If Billy keeps doing three hour shows that's a serious possibility (and I'm not sure what's going on with Mickey besides "health problems"). Maybe I'm wrong and no stress if I am. Maybe they come back with a different lineup and do shorter shows. Seems much more likely that Billy and Mickey have earned their later days chill time. Billy can do shows on his lawn in Hawaii and play for a little or as long as he wants. Mickey can do his solo and world music projects without having to tour and play for three hours. Blah blah inane ramblings... long story short, I don't think John haters are getting rid of him that easily.

As Dead and Co. begin their last hurrah, this is show certainly provides a good dive into the twilight of JM with the band. Not going to voice my personal perspectives on the Band but I will say this show certainly has gems. Reminds my of a long ago quote, "They ain't the best at what they do but they are the only ones doing it"
Great job on the recording and thanks for sharing.
