Hi Eric,
Listening from Italy and felt like I was there with you! Exceptional recording! I know this one was difficult to get through, but from what I heard it went seamless. Listening to this show in Florence and Positano was an extra treat 😀.
Tapers are our historians and since taking this up, you have captured some real gems.

The SiriusXM feed was great. The setlist was a "rare and different tune" indeed. So pleased that these recordings have made it out so fast. Way to go.
("raindep" - Your comment about JazzFest was right on. That was THE WORST performance I have ever seen. Spent thousands of $$$ on lodging, travel, food, drinks, tickets, etc. Had friends come to New Orleans from all over the country to join in. And all Dead & Co. did was lay a turd. Felt cheated.)

Obviously it's a 10+ of a setlist but that's not the point entirely. It's always been as much or MORE about the quality of the playing. The Rider Straw and Fire for instance are plodding uninspired and pretty lame. The band w its shakedown wa wa effect have never learned to play fire correctly and that's always been a glaring weakness of such an epic song. The setlist was designed to wow the masses in front of another overpriced tour to enlist interest and sell even more tx but ignore the hype spend $60 instead and see Jrad. Marco is worth the money alone. Dead and co is good w Jay lane at best and old slow and creakidy without his rhythm. To listen is to believe. No hater here. Very dedicated head trying to be a voice of reason and honesty. Enjoy.

Eric, you did everything right- (@Garchia_Pet/@Gratefully Medicated) couldn't be happier to have helped you get through this and the recording is excellent considering the circumstances. If they play the way they did last night, the tour is going to be a breeze for you. You've come a long way since Jorma & Tedeschi Trucks. I'm always here!

I'm giving this a 5-star rating simply because Jazz Fest was a stillborn 1-star, and my expectations were so low, that this Garcia drenched 2nd set salvaged the quickly waning reputation of this particular permutation of a dead cover band.
Love Bill K., but Jay Lane saved this potential nightmare of an over priced over hyped money grab. I'm glad that excellent charities were involved, but that doesn't triple the market value of an airplane hangar cover event. Lane gives mickey the night off from groove maintainance, not Mick's forte anyway. Tempos were finally at acceptable minimum bpm, Lane pushed as allowed by Bobby, who had a fine playing night, but should NEVER sing Garcia songs, sorry, not sorry.
Glad I listened, really glad I didn't attend or stream. It may be all downhill from here, so enjoy every sandwich. See you on SPAC lawn??
