However, with all the information before him, the author ignored clues to the true Irish origin of the name variant and instead used his romantic imagination to elaborate the long held myth that the name originated from a few noble Frenchmen. Repeated Y chromosome DNA test results of men with a DeArmond surname variant show purely native Irish markers.
