Subject: Raw footage
This is clearly just raw footage for some commercial or advertising film. It has to be taken on those terms.

Subject: Sound?
Why does the description say "sound"? Am I missing something?

With sound it may be a little more interesting. Otherwise, it's a bore.

Subject: Hmmm, Which Dress Do I Want????
The lady with the scary hair must have pulled out six or seven of those dresses to look at, even though there were only two color schemes and they were otherwise identical. And that hair! Man, you could frighten small children into obedience by threatening them with that. "You be good or we'll take you to the hairdresser and make you look just like her!" Fun stuff!

Why Rick preserved this garbage is beyond me. Why over 1000 people downloaded it is beyond me. Rick, Please upload something more worthwhile than this garbage.

Subject: Kinda depressing...
I love to window shop, but would have been left a sobbing wreck if I had to hang out there.

Loved it where the lady blew the take and had to pick up the coffee pot and radio all over.

Subject: Intersting historic footage
I found this film very interesting. Very useful footage. I think this film provides a rare insight into what stores used to look like. Thanks Mr Prelinger.

Subject: Amateur film
This amateur film was probably made by or for the owner. The woman looking at the merchandise must be a relative or friend. I don't think it was made for the public to watch.

Subject: Shopping and Desperation
A blonde woman with a bizarre bouffant hairdo examines cheaply made sixties mini-dresses in this piece of scrap footage. We only see her from the back, but even so, but its obvious she's not enthusiastic about the $3.99 dresses. Next, with a forced smile, she walks down the aisle picking up and pretending to examine a percolator that sits next to a statue of the Virgin Mary. Then, its on to the handbagsÃÂâÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂor are they jewelry cases? She picks up a dubious looking pitcher and the film cuts away from her to a drab, utilitarian corner of the store that sells fishing equipment. Presumably, this is to show that the store sells things that would appeal to men. But there's no corresponding man wandering the aisles dreamily examining the goods. The empty store, the solitary woman (with her weird hair) and the god-awful merchandise in this film make it a melancholy statement on the emptiness of consumerism

Silent film footage from the 60s of a woman in a retail store examining the merchandise. This looks like itÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂs from a dime store of the period, but everything looks so dreary, you can hardly tell it apart from a thrift store. It ends with a number of different close-ups of fishing tackle. ItÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂs hard to know what the purpose of this wasÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂeverything looks so dreary and cheap, itÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂs hard to buy it was for advertising purposes. It certainly doesnÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂt make me want to buy anything.
Ratings: Camp/Humor Value: ***. Weirdness: ****. Historical Interest: ****. Overall Rating: ***.

Subject: Got a good job at the dollar store
You can practically smell the odor of dried cardboard and mothballs that must be emenating from this merchandise today. Just some raw footage at a dollar store. There's no narrative at all, but it's one of those real moment in time movies.

Subject: Fishing Lures!!!
SO while waiting for Diesel story to load, I thought I'd sneak a peak at 'Dollar Store' which essentially are outtakes from a commerical advertising the store. A woman with mile high hair, looks over a rack of dresses which all look the same. Then she looks over a teapot, a radio and a pitcher lol. Finally, there are some shots of FISHING LURES! Oooh.
