Subject: great show
I was there and had a blast.Totally did not expect Kimock to show up, what a surprise, he must have played like six or seven diffrent guitars, He even signed my setlist.

Subject: KIMOCKSTAR!!!
This is a keeper, the Darkstar alone...with Kimock>> one of the best post'74 stars I've heard and that sayz alot(about my tastes-heh)
Just read that Latvala mentioned that the 10/26/87 Miami Star was his favorite...[at the time he said it, that is]. On Stars, I waffle worse than Kerry. A top 5 post 80's, fersure!
The rest of the show 4stars but from DS>on it rippz it back to a 5STAR- Yow!! (but what IS an ftp server???-eggz fried over & burnt)

Subject: nice...
i can't wait to see these guys live! i'm sure i'll end up w/ tears running down my face- they sound eerily close... the vocals especially... That said, the first show or so I sat and listened to at home seemed somehow... onanistic... But this one is different, thanks to the fabulous Steve Kimock, whom I underappreciated back when I saw him w/ Jazz is Dead here in PDX in 1999...This stuff is worth the download, and just might convince a stubborn Deadhead or two to go ahead and give in to the groove!

Subject: Great show - below average recording
The music on this one is hot! DSO takes a few to get going but once they do, this show rocks. Kimock joins in mid 1rst set and the thing goes off the hook. The recording however is seriously flawed. Kimock is WAY TOO LOUD. He doesn't fit in, he all over the top of everything in the mix. It's admirable to attempt to patch together all these different sources in an attempt to give us the best possible recording. But in an attempt to make sure Kimock was prominent in the mix, mr Miller has made this Steve Kimock with the DSO. Not Dark Star Orchestra with Steve Kimock. It's a shame really since DSO is on fire throughout this one. Steve's just way too loud.

Subject: Indeed - you MUST have this show!
There are those moments (and more than a few) where the intrepid Mr. Kimock takes a band that's already jamming hard and just ELEVATES the whole shebang! Friggin' amazing - the energy just reaches out of the speakers and grabs you by the THROAT.

Great sound, although I think Kadlicek is a little far down in the mix, but hey, it wasn't his night :)

Subject: DSO Hotter than Hot!!!
I echo "Rukindman"'s comments ... This is a definite must have. Don't get me wrong, the Dead are the Dead, but DSO comes closer to the Grateful Dead sounds I heard when I followed the Dead! Karma goes out to DSO for letting me relive so many good times! Kimmock just added to the greatness of this tape! You should've downloaded this show yesterday if you're reading this right now! Peace

Subject: DSO with Kimock, Hotter Than Hot !!!!!!!!!!!
Now this is a friggin' show !!!!
If you dont have any DSO or if you like DSO and collect there shows, This is one to have. Kimock jams like its nobody's business but his own. A great addition to the band this night. These guys should be touring as The Dead, even though they are a tribute band, they happen to be the best sounding replica anyone can ask for and having Kimock sit in and play some riffs can never hurt. DOWNLOAD IMMEDIATELY IF YOU CAN

It's good to listen to some DEAD tunes with Kimock playing lead guitar . I allways liked him like that.

I was wondering if a taper could explain to me the value of having split cardioids facing the audience.

Subject: amazing
Personally, I think DSO, like most tribute bands, is kind of creepy. But, Kimock dropped by and made this night memorable. The music is not just being re-created here. Its being interpreted in the most endearing way. Many highlights in this show. Great sound quality too.
