Subject: Not Mike's first Duo gig
Just an FYI: The first time Mike sat in with the Duo was the Headcount benefit earlier in 2004 on 6/7/2004 which can be downloaded here:

This set is incredible, but that 6/7/2004 gig is unreal as it is tons of Improv and like Mike just walked out there with them...crazy...

I was working volunteer at moe.down, so I had backstage access (which I milked for every ounce it was worth). When we saw the Duo walk on stage, freakin Gordon was milling about back there getting his bass ready, So we knew something huge was about to happen. I ran out front, and out he walked. Even without Gordon, the Duo is incredible, but with the addition it made the whole set completely unreal. The entire set was just great music with people dancing all over... And then, when they hit the first few notes of Mike's Song the crowd just exploded with a huge purple ball of excitement and crazy crisp energy.
The show will no doubt be timeless, as the Duo was playing beautifully, and it was Gordon's first time joining forces with them. Also, it was his first apperance since Coventry.
A+
(sorry for the long review...addy's be makin' me crazy)

I stumbled accross this show will looking for a information on the tune BB. I so hauntingly beautiful. This is not it unless its sort of based on it without lyrics. Maybe why its called Beatless Buckler. The definitive version is from a benefit show I caught in Middlebury with Russ Lawton, Mike Gordon, Gordon Stone, Doug Perkins and Vassar Clements. seek it out. - Filler

this is an outstanding show and recording. Is the Gordon tune supposed to be Beltless Buckle? Great job and thank you. I highly recommend checking out the Duo with or without Mr. Gordon.

Not only is this show mind-blowingly funky, but it also features Mike Gordon throughout. Hopefully its not the last time these three amazing musicians play together. I'm serious, though. Get it now.
