This is one of many short video segments which will be added to the Digital Tipping Point (DTP) archive. We are very proud to exhibit this segment of our interview with Richard Stallman, the man who first articulated the power of sharing free software.

In this segment, Richard says that it is unethical to "break solidarity" with other members of one's community by agreeing to use proprietary software, because proprietary software requires you to promise that you will not share it. He calls proprietary software a "social problems." He says that this issue of ethics and sharing do not apply to tables or sandwiches, because there is not easy quick way to copy tables and chairs as there is with software.
