Miscellaneous saz jams recorded just outside Canterbury (UK) in the early summer of 2008, with local nightingales, a nearby stream and Jim Penny from Red Dog Green Dog (on concertina).
Notes
Matthew - saz Jim - concertina (5-8) with unidentified aircraft (during "Praze-an-Beeble"), nightingales resident in a nearby abandoned pear orchard, the Sarre Penn (a little stream below the orchard), shrill peacock cries (at the end of saz and concertina jam 1) and Libby banging some nails into a wooden gate (same piece, I think) 1-3 recorded 20th May 2008, 4 recorded a few days later (a night when no nightingales showed up), 5-8 recorded 15th June 2008, all near Tyler Hill. The Popeye jam followed on from a discussion about ice-cream van music (and the possibility of composing serial music for a fleet of moving ice-cream vans) - the Popeye tune is often heard from the van which periodically visits a nearby Canterbury housing estate. an old map of the area |
