Subject: "it's a picture perfect evening and I'm staring down the sun"
This gig always stands out to me because I was finishing college and was really excited about going to see Elliott Smith play. His records summed up my evenings alone in my bedroom finishing my assignments and drinking coffee till dawn. At that paticular time I was addicted to listening to XO and Either/Or.

I was really happy at having got tickets and went with my then boyfriend who spent the entire night moaning . But I ignored him and loved the gig and so did the rest of the crowd. It's wicked to listen to the gig back now because Elliott sounds really excited and together and thats what I remember about the night. When he and the band kick off with "Son Of Sam" its just like pow and your sucked in. Yeah the band played fast at first especially on "Bled white" but its them getting into the show. Highlights include "Bottle up and Explode" which is my fave track on XO, "Sweet Adeline" his guitar work is fantastic on this track and then band go full pelt and it just works perfectly, "Say Yes" because it's just beautiful, "Rose parade" and the finishing song "Pictures of Me".
The crowd just go wild throughout the gig because there were so many songs that he could play and that we wanted him to play.
I will always remember this gig as being a really happy one.

Elliott's songs should be treasured he was a cool guy who could rock out when he wanted to, and so very talented. The worlds a sadder place without him.
