THERE'S AN INJURED DOG! QUICK! GET HIM!
Although I'm normally immune to films like this, and make fun how antiquated they are, I really found this film quite charming. The family in this are all impossibly well mannered, super friendly and takes care of everyone and everything. Sort of like a 1920's version of 'A Date With Your Family" but maybe not as forced, this seems more natural. Great film, a MUST see on this site!

Meanwhile on the other side of town
The Hunkies (collective term for immigrants from Hungary, Yugoslavia, and Greece - not to be confused with the term "Honky.")set their table with glasses ashtrays and flasks as mom shows the son how to maintain the still in the basement. The white collar guys from the plant are due in to tip a few over lunch hour. The daughter will not only wash the glasses but change beds for the boarders and later stretch drapes on a rack and then go off with mom to do a delivery (of home made stuff) over in the Bernard's neighborhood. No time for picking up stray animals or playing nurse. In the evening instead of a parlor game, dad has to go bail mom out...cops busted her again - but she always made it home by dark.
