Subject: Fastball Rocks Live
Hey All - I have seen Fastball live several times - they totally kill it live. The FASTBALL show at the Rocks Off Boat Cruise is going to be a hot one! The show takes place May, 31 2008 in New York, New York. Opening for Eve 6 is The Energy out of NYC. If you have not seen The Energy yet, they ROCK live. It should be a killer show!!

Subject: Another new song!
Last night the large crowd at The Saxon Pub was treated to another outstanding set by our boys. The place was packed, literally. It's the start of the SXSW season in Austin, when things go absolutely berserk, with all kinds of visitors packing every venue in town. Still, there were plenty of Fastball fans there, and a lot of new converts by the end of the evening.
Austin legend Jon Dee Graham started the evening out with a moving, funny, rocking, engaging set. His band, The Fighting Cocks, included Joey Shuffield on drums. "Somebody's getting paid twice tonight," Jon Dee joked. Thankfully, Shelly and Richard made it there early and saved us some seats, since Mr. Graham saw fit to start before the posted time, causing us to miss the start of the show.
The main act came on a bit past 11:30, and immediately launched into "The Modern World." It was great, as usual, and a sign of things to come. The emphasis was clearly on the new material, with no fewer than seven of the "new" songs on the setlist. All of the new songs were very well received, with "White Noise" especially getting a rousing ovation.
Last night was also the premier of a really brand-new song, "Mono To Stereo," featuring Miles on lead vocals. It's a rocker, and reminded me somewhat of The Rolling Stones. It's another great new song, as we've gotten used to with this band. It was followed by the revamped "Little White Lies" which sounded really, really good. The one-hour set was closed out with "She's Got The Rain" leading right into "Lou-ee Lou-ee," a one-two punch that left the crowd yelling for more. The band obliged, coming out for a three song encore highlighted by "Falling Upstairs" and ending with a blistering rendition of "Keys To Your Heart." We were left wanting even more, but it was not to be. Guess we'll have to wait for the next one.
The guys were all in top form, looking and sounding great. Miles was dapper in his red jacket and matching shoes. Tony was showing off his team spirit with a San Antonio Spurs sweatshirt (Go Spurs, Go!). The band was tight and everyone was "on." I guess I'm repeating myself here, but last night was also further evidence of what Bruce Hughes has added to the band - excellent, creative bass playing and just the right touch on the harmony vocals. Just that little extra something that makes a great band into an outstanding band.
Band lineup:
Miles Zuniga - Vocals, guitar
Tony Scalzo - Vocals, guitar
Joey Shuffield - Drums
Bruce Hughes - Bass, vocals
Debut of new song, "Mono To Stereo."
