A bilingual girl of Mexican-American parents has ambitions to be teacher. She helps her injured uncle take the drivers test so he can maintain his dignity as a working member of society, essentially depicting the quiet desperation of an extended family to succeed. "Felipa" is played by Phyllis Agraan. Filmed in Tucson, with shots of San Xavier Del Bac. Shows back-breaking field work, utilizing short-handled hoes. Mother is played by Dolores Jaurique.
