Subject: Jeepers... I'm glad Jim pulled through!
I liked how this movie showed traditional pre 60's male role models and modeled acceptable male behaviour, but that at the same time, the narrator encourages the audience to feel sympathy for Jim's predicament and invokes caring and other emotions to encourage men not to not drink and drive, but rather, drink somewhat less. If there was a downpoint to this film, it was the crash scene. You couldn't really see much, although the glass cracking animation was cool. But they don't even give you a glimpse of the wreckage afterwards, which would basically be a given these days. Oh well, still worth a watch

Subject: White Man Jazz is Bad
Fun screwy little movie all about what happens when you drive drunk.
Bad acting guy who's squirming in a hospital bed with a laughable stump leg and grimacing like no tommorow. But why is that? And why does he look across the room for his friend, who is still in the operating room?
We then flash back to how him and his friend were similar in many ways, except when they were in the car. You see, our main character likes tearing up in the car, while his friend is a good driver. After bowling one night, they go off to one heck of a hilarious white man jazz joint. This movie is worth the download for this scene alone. Check out the white haired lolita in the background! Amelie moment for sure. They wind up having too much to drink, and well, the rest is pretty predictable. Will his friend live? Well, to be honest with you, I don't know, LOL the film ended for me just when the nurse entered with the creaky cart.. hmmm...

Subject: A feel-bad spectacular
Battered print. The first few minutes has several splices PER SECOND. It settles down to a mere scratchfest with normally frequent splices after that.

Lots of shots of sloppy behavior, near-wrecks during hunting trips, drunken trips home after a night at the bar, etc. A very weird-looking leg stump in the hospital scenes after the wreck. A "heartwarming" scene at the end as the entire family participates in the first outing on the new leg. Altogether unpleasant, maybe some useful shots.
