Traditions is the key word
The genealogy in this book cannot be considered authoritative. All modern authorities (2017) it goes wrong within one or two generations ascending from Edward Fitzgerald, the Pilgrim. It assumes English titles which never existed and misstates others (Duke for Earl, and so forth). Taken as lore (which is to say, untrue stories) it has a certain charm. Some of the plates are valuable. Some of the family stories are in the main true, but they are stories which belong to families other than the author's.
