Reviewer:chitownguitar - - November 19, 2009 Subject: Youthful exuberance If you've never heard the band during these early years, you really need to check it out! I love the Grateful Dead covers in particular, but the originals are great too - lots of youthful passion...check out "This Time Around"
Other highlights for me: 1) Hearing Marty sing the blues on Little Red Rooster and Big Railroad Blues
2) 10+ minute version of Daydream
3) The Crossing is really nice - I think a lot better than how it came out when they recorded it
4) Franklin's Tower!!!!
5) Tons of between-song banter. It's kind of hard to hear, but you can often hear them discussing which song to play next. Like, before Daydream, you can hear Simon say "Yeah let's do Daydream...fu*k it..no balance!" referring to trying to play some fast songs then some slow songs. Also, before Franklin's, Simon says "Is that the "Roll Away" tune?" and before Big Railroad Blues, Simon says "What was that song we played at Gamekeepers last week??" Before The Crossing Marty says "If we're going to do a slow one I'd like to do Crossing"
