Jeffrey van der Schilden, Nick van der Schilden & Peter SpaargarenEasily Embarrassed - From Sunset Last Night to Sunrise This Morning (I Don't Want to Sleep) [flw003] (August 30, 2006)

with this here flw003, not only does subco bring you yet another mixed ep, it's also the longest title of a release ever (so long, in fact, that the database had to be tweaked to accomodate it).

"easily embarrassed" is the name given to this new project, and it's the joint effort of nick van der schilden and peter spaargaren (known for their plantbane project), in conjunction with nick's brother, jeffrey van der schilden, a.k.a. nekativ of dream wave project and trance-o-mania fame. with jeffrey, being the artist largely responsible for inspiring nick into making music, who in turn was largely responsible for inspiring peter into making music, now making his debut on subco together with -you know- nick and peter, things have come full circle in a way. a way spanning several years and a rather large full circle, that is. if you're not getting this, don't worry. it's just sprinkles of bonus info, wrapped into a nigh-incomprehensible sentence. sue me.

anyway, enough with the chatter. the crux of the easily embarrassed project is the forging of laidback, chilled-out ambient music with a strong psychedelic vibe and influences from anything you could think of. and this is what's taking place, here, on this sweet 4-track mixed ep. if you haven't started downloading yet, now's a good time to get to it, by the way.

From Sunset Last Night to Sunrise this Morning is a new psychill/psybient release from the Sublogic Corporation Netlabel. The release consists of a four track mix by the group Easily Embarrassed which features brothers Nick and Jeffrey Van Der Schilden together with Peter Spaargaren.

The musical journey starts off in a subtle manner in a music box tune before evolving into a full on assault of psychedelic lead lines and pads. The first track has a spooky feel to it. It features a nasal wind sound that almost sounds like a voice that beckons you forward to listen. It wouldnât surprise me if vampires licensed this music for hypnotizing their victims. The first and second tracks set the mood for the rest of the album which is somewhat brooding. Your journey after this will involve more intricate drum lines, funny voices, psychedelic melodies and if youâre lucky, you may spot a vampire behind you.

Favourite Tracks:
03. Organic Gardening
The third track in the mix was the high point of my listen to the album. The track starts off in a jerky manner before succumbing to the forces of dark machines that transform it to a highly danceable beat 4/4 before breaking down into a non dance beat again. My favourite part of the track was how it featured an initially subdued quick pulsating bassline that was slowly opened up as the track progressed. This together with the screaming synths were very cool to listen to.

04. Little Trees and Fantasies
Unlike a lot of other albums, the ending of this album is very strong. The delayed guitar and synth melodies together with the use of bongos and a more acoustic drum sound and rock-esque drumming added a sort of space rock feeling to this track. This track just slowly builds layer upon layer until it hits a crescendo of sonic goodness.
