Subject: an irrelevant story
Thank you for instantly making my day better. :D

So, I have to tell a story. I'm a grad student in library science, and I'm currently writing a paper on digitization projects, the Internet Archive being one of them. Sadly, I had not known that this wonderful site existed before my research began, and even once I was nearly finished with writing my paper, I had not fully explored the nooks and crannies of the archive. While procrastinating during the final stretch of paper writing, I was feeling particularly lethargic and just sad that I haven't been able to connect to any music lately. I'm particularly fond of live shows, but there are only so many times I can listen to Set List and the Breadcrumb Trail before it starts to feel rehearsed. And since it's not currently touring season, I wasn't feeling too great. And then! I find this! I was also at this show (among many others through the years), and although I could have done without the drunkenness, it was, as always, a TON of fun, the highlight of my however long it took until the next show.

So to end this long and pointless story, thank you once again for putting this up--and for such good quality too! I just hope I can figure out how to rip it. ;)

I recently discovered The Frames after seeing Glen Hansard in the movie "Once" (which anyone who likes music or movies should see, by the way). I get the impression that the Frames are at the top of their game on this tour. Their corresponding album, "The Cost", is excellent, and they mix several songs from it into this show at The Metro.

The last show of this tour happened 8 days later, which NPR recorded for a webcast. That show is available for download from the NPR site (http://216.35.221.77/templates/story/story.php?storyId=9796328). It's excellent too, but it downloads as a single MP3, so I had to use an MP3 splitter to break it up into tracks.

There's also a nice little set of Frames tunes here on the Archive that were taken from from the soundboard at Vicar Street. I recommend that too.

The Frames are a really great band. I listen to a lot of music, but I haven't found many artists who can reach me the way Glen Hansard can.

I was at this show, up at the stage smack between Rob and Colm, and was completely blown away by these guys. They were even better than they were at the Park West in '05. Their musicianship is simply amazing. This is an excellent recording of the best working band around. Download it now and tell everyone you know about The Frames.

By the way, it wasn't Rob's wife that went into labor, it was the wife of the warm up act's bass player.

Notes

& Magnetic Fields cover
* Colm solo
^ Rob & Colm
% John Hegarty cover - Glen and Colm

*NOTES: What a great show, right as I was setting up the gear the house m/c announced that Rob's wife was going into labor with their 3rd child, so things were a bit delayed.
The crowd started off very well, but as the show went on, their behaviour rapidly declined, so you'll notice alot of bad crowd noise, but it didn't stop
the boys from playing their asses off! A special thanks goes out to Howard for helping me get the permission I needed, and a BIG thanks to Cherie
for getting the ball rolling to help make this recording available!

*SHOW NOTES: There was a gentleman ticked in the back corner of the stage behind Rob & Colm playing the keyboard on several songs. His name was mentioned before Falling Slowly as Thomas.
He did not play on all the songs but I just can't remember which ones he sat out for! As for the set, all I can say is 'Rent Day Blues' -> yessss!

ENJOY ALL!
