Free Death presents "Blip in Space", a gleefully nihilistic techno-industrial anthem that in four minutes tells you more about your place in the universe than NASA ever will.
Ah, early autumn. The days are getting shorter, the leaves will soon be changing. On these crisp, cool nights, it's the perfect time to step outside with a blanket and a lover, sit back, gaze at the stars in the sky...
...and remember what a trifling little speck you are.
Okay. So it's not the most uplifting thought. But in the hands of Portland-based producer Zach Archer, insignificance has never been this much fun. Free Death presents "Blip in Space", a gleefully nihilistic techno-industrial anthem that in four minutes tells you more about your place in the universe than NASA ever will.
Supporting this single are four remixes by the likes of Scrap Heap and Fixed. The most interesting may be the glitchy, IDM-inspired "Geologic" version by Free Death himself, and the duo Beardy's dreamy, almost cinematic interpretation — a farcical space opera of sorts.
With one song as a start point, this EP covers a wide variety of musical ground. That said, it's still just a blip in space.
