Groundbreaking book on complex subject
This was one of my very first real books, I think my grandfather gave it to me as a high school graduation present in 1957. It has affected my thinking about science and "the heavens" ever since. I just read my second best science book, which builds on Einstein's discoveries, "Quantum Enigma" by Bruce Rosenblum and Fred Kuttner

Ground breaking book
I first read this book shortly after it was published when I was about 14 or 15. It turned me into a scientist and confirmed me in my atheism.
It's all here: stellar element forming, global warming, the big bang theory (or rather the steady state theory) etc.
Important man and important ideas.
