Subject: The Range Busters & The Valley With The Doll
One of the better "Range Busters" movies, with some great - although hard to believe - plot twists, plus good acting, plenty of action, some songs from "Dusty" King, some magic tricks and humor from Elmer, "Alibi" Terhune's dummy, and some unexpected humor from "Crash" Corrigan who comprise "The Range Busters." Here, cutie Julie Duncan is the pretty woman who King and Corrigan invariably fight over. Duncan is given a larger - if somewhat unbelievable - role than is usual for women in westerns - and is not bad - besides, she sure can ride a horse, having won several horse show awards as the nation's top steeplechase rider. Glenn Strange plays a rather even-tempered villain aided by perennial baddie Bob Kortman and others. IMDb says it is 61:00 - we get 60:00 here - possibly a crucial plot exposition point is missing - but its easy to get on without it and enjoy a good western. Within the pantheon of "Range" Busters movies it should get 3 1/2 stars - so it gets 4 stars for interesting plot and Julie Duncan.

I found this film to be very enjoyable. Who would have thought of Corrigan as a skilled comedian? Also, contains an excellent shot of Eagle Beak Rock and Indian Head Rock.

Subject: Surprisingly good
The opening credits lead me to expect a vanity film, but instead I found a fairly effective blend of comedy, drama, and the occasional "singing cowboy" musical number. Though no Agatha Christie, the plot was twisty enough to remain interesting, with half the players not being who they seemed at first. (I can't say much more about it than the uploader's description without spoiling the film, but the good guys find some pretty ingenious means to infiltrate the bad guys' nest.) There was some pretty bad dialogue in places (like where a 19th century Texas cowboy talks like a 1930's Prohibition era gangster), and the print is old and faded, but the story more than made up for all that. All in all, light and entertaining.
