Notes
Matrix mix: sbd:aud(-13db), Audience source via phopeley
Lineage: Mixing Cool Edit Pro > CDWAV > TLH > flac level 8.
Notes:
- aud wav was ~ 99.9954% the "speed" of the sbd (reasonable error for digital clocks) but can cause an accumulating run out error
- aud wav was speed corrected accordingly
- the aud was mixed down ~ 13dB
- ~ 30 seconds missing from sbd before TMNSP
- ~ 178 seconds missing from sbd at end of TMNSP
- lost sailor on sbd had two small "pops" that were attentuated
- sbd had ~10 sec "extra" bit after FOTM which was altered to lineup with aud tape
- sbd issues were addressed using the aud tape where it impacted the listening experience; because of their differences this does not always achieve a perfect correction

and thats not an opinion, thats a fact.
i dont hate furthur, i think it's great for fans who never got to see garcia live.
but to say furthur sounds anything like the dead is like saying phil singing wave to the wind is the best experience ever.

Bobby sounds Great! the music and vocals sound like 1980-1985 Grateful dead. I am a lost sailor saint Fan and theese guys do it right. I do object to phil singing some of the jerry tunes. It dosent bother me enough not to see them i saw 4 shows this winter including both radio city shows which kicked fuckin ass. 2nd night had a lil more energy and i liked the setlist more but both shows were legendary, along with the light show. Radio citys light show was unreal check it out on google 2-24-10

Wonderful, Superb, I am one of those old guys who never write anything because I feel most opinions are just fools rambling. Well listing to the new band I am so proud to be associated with two men who continue to reach for the stars. They continue to carry on the atmosphere they and we all began many years ago.
I grew up with this way of life and it helped form my life and attitude from the music and mutual respect.
This recording help proves what a long strange trip it has been. Since the passing of Jerry, we have been treated to many wonderful forms of the original GD. They appeared to have been practice for this band. It is so great they have past on the torch to younger great talent and the old guys are good themselves.
Thanks for being back.

Subject: Great Show
As for this show, I thought the Second Set from Althea on was really terrific. Incredible feeling in the hall, everybody knew the magic was back, and I thought the playing was outstanding. Nice recording as well.

Of course Jerry is gone and I miss him as much as anyone.
But the previous reviewer's negativity is not appropriate. Essentially he/she is arguing that Phil and Bobby can't play GD songs anymore, because *no one* is Jerry.
That is BS. P&F, for example, has done great work. The fact that Jerry is gone is a fact, but doesn't prevent the songs from living on.
As far as FURTHUR, these were great shows. Bobby was in a great voice, his guitar playing was precise and economical, and Phil was truly amazing. I think Phil has done great work with his band over the years, but my sense of these shows was that Phil was liberated by not having to play the role of band leader.
The rest of the band was superb, too. Chimenti is a really super keyboard player who sounded better and better each of the three nights, the drummers were tasteful and played the songs at the proper tempos, and what you called JK's "aping" of JG meant that the songs tended to hang together well because the guitar parts did what they were supposed to do, so Bobby and Phil weren't constantly getting distracted by someone who doesn't know the songs. Actually I liked JK a lot and think he sounds great on these tapes.
