Just wanted to give a shout out to the J O that was whistling through this entire show. We know where you are and your time is limited. This was IMO one of the best shows they did in there entire run. 999 people had a chance to go. I think this was the smallest most personal show I have ever been to.

Although I agree Bobby sing some of the Jerry ballads can be painful and I wish John would sing them lets keep in mind that this is not DSO Featuring Bobby and Phil. Bobby and Phil and Mr Hunter made these songs and if thats how they want to play it I am still GRATEFUL. Thank you archive and all who contribute! Thanks to my son from whom I stole the ability to post.

I'm taking wife to her 1st show in columbus and i'm sure they wont disappoint. I dont understand why everyone has to compare this band and john to jerry. we are all lucky to be able to enjoy this band so just take it for what it is and quit bitchin. john is doing a great job filling the jerry spot but is def putting his on twist on the music which is great. rock on guys keep it rollin

I gotta hand it to this band. Penns Peak came out of the gates on fire and never stopped. Just listened again, and recording was prettygood for Penns Peak, not a taper friendly venue for quality in my opinion. Not a Ratdog fan at all. Can't stand the way Bobby sings anymore, with his rap like style, or the way he has slowed the tempo. HOWEVER; this show even heavy with Bobby vocals Rocked! Bob actually SANG the songs. I was very suprised and grateful they played such an ordinary setlist on paper but rocked so hard!!

It would have been difficult to sustain the incredible energy from the Coney Island shows, especially with a comparatively laid back audience of around 1,800 at Penn's Peak. So I'm not surprised that this show was a notch (or two) below both MCU shows. Nonetheless, it is a good 3 1/2 to 4 stars. Hey, they can't all be gems right?
For those not happy with Bobby taking most vocals, I see your point here. I was saying to myself, please give JK one. I can only take so much of Bobby's Shaternizing. Phil's voice sounded shot, so maybe that contributed to alot of Bob songs.
As far as the fake Jerry thing goes, I find it incredibly disrespectful, and for the most part inaccurate. If you listen to the lead lines and set the tone aside for a moment, you will find JK plays alot of stuff Jerry would never play. In fact, his soloing reminds me very little of Jerry. Some obviously drunk guy at MCU kept screaming "BOBBAAAAYYYYYY!!" at the top of his lungs in between songs, and the show was so smokin' everyone just laughed it off. Then he decided to scream "FVCK YOU FAKE JERRY!!!!!" after JK just poured his heart out and gave everything he got on Morning Dew, and unfortunately . . . JK was within ear shot, this guy had a loud booming voice, so i'm sure most onstage heard it. His remark was not well received and he shut up after that (thankfully). I don't get it, it was as if he was pissed off that JK put on a moving performance during Dew and he was forced to like it, which he took offense too.

Great, set list, amazing performance, and flawless taping job. Thank you for your incredible efforts at posting this memorable performance in such short order!
I have one positive qualitative comment and one negative one. First, it's hard for me to fathom that this legendary music is once again being performed at this level. If you had told me one year ago that I'd be addicted to this scene again like I was 25 years ago I would have laughed at you. There are at least a dozen moments of sheer brilliance in every single show this tour. PLEASE keep it going guys!
My second comment is for Bob - dude, I love you to tears - you are a rock legend and have already cemented your place not only in musical history but American social history as well. Be that as it may, do you really NEED to completely monopolize the vocal component of EVERY show?
The second set of this show provides a perfect example. Out of the first six songs five of them are Weir anthems, and they were performed admirably. But the Jerry ballads too? I swear, trying to enjoy listening to an emotional Jerry tune with Bobby's halting interpretation of the lyrics is like trying to enjoy sex while your grandma watches.
What is wrong with the tried and true formula of old where all band members SHARED the lyrical stage? That would seem to make even more sense considering the presence of such talented and fresh vocalists as John and Jeff. And Bob, if you do insist on being a lyrical monopolist, can you please SING the songs instead of "speaking" them? It's a song, not a Edgar Allen Poe poem.
There, I feel much better getting that off my chest. Furthur ROCKS! This is the most exciting tour in decades. Thank you all!

This is for you guys that relentlessly insist on comparing John with Jerry. My first 2 shows were RFK 6/72 I have seen more shows and off spring shows then I can count. I have not seen any Furthur shows nor have I seen any shows since Jerry has died. I was not perticularlly thrilled with the bands after Jerry until now. I see Furthur as a whole new element to the sound. John is one outlet of this band that makes it complete. I believe he has no intention of being Jerry nor do the other members expect a clone of Jerry. John is a highly professional musician and he brings all he has to a very talented band. I'm sure Van Gough would have never wanted to emulate Picasso or visa versa, and this is what you are comparing John and Jerry to. My opinion, leave it alone enjoy the music, it is the best these guys have created in years. Phil and Bob have been around for a long long time in the music industry, give them a little credit. I think they would know the difference between creative music and just trying to drag on an old habit. There is a new structure here just as the bands name indicates......This is Furthering on, a continuation of great creativity and Orchestration. Enjoy it don't critisize it.

Your "Fake Jerry" tag under keywords is pathetic. Get a life.
This band is great! I highly recommend listening to any of their shows. They are the most consistent Dead-related project since 1989 GD.

What a terrific recording! When you see a Litzenberger tag, you can count on the sound being top notch - have a listen. The astounding part on this one is the turnaround and upload. This show was last night - right? 20100629 - correct? Amazing that the archive provides us - those who were there and those who weren't - the chance to hear it so quickly. Thank you, taper wizard...thank you Internet Archive...thank you Furthur.

My friend just told me that he listened to this show live on XM, so I thought I'd give it a listen. I, of course, was not at the show, so I have nothing to contribute; however Keith's recording is perect. I love to hear the audience sing along with the guys. I love it so much that even now, while I type this during "He's Gone," I get those goose bumps.
As far as the Fake Jerry, I understand what you mean, because K is working out so well, we get a Jerry-like dynamic without Jerry or a clone. I am just happy that the music is still alive and evolving.
Thanks Keith for a great recording. I relaize that in order to produce a recording of this caliber is a true labor of love, a love of the music, a sharing of the music. After I submit the comment, I am going to check out some of your other recording.
Thanks again for an outstanding job of recording a stellar show.

It was a joke, get over it! obviuosly you 2 are DSO freaks, so I apologize if I offend.
For the record, it was a good show last night, I personally just don't feel he fits in and he doesn't do it for me, he was fine with DSO, but I just don't like what he's doing with these guys, but what do I know? My caring for this music died with Brent.
