Loved this show! Cassidy jam was fluid. Got chill bumps @ 7:20 mark. I haven’t seen them live YET…but it’s coming soon. REAL soon! These jokers are coming in hot, hot hot!

Me: Hey the last two days were great. Especially that death don't have no mercy, that was awesome.
Furthur: Hey thanks man, glad you're enjoying it.
Me: There are a few songs I haven't heard yet, though. Hope you guys play them tonight.
Furthur: What songs would those be?
Me: I haven't heard throwing stones yet. A nice upbeat one would be fun.
Furthur: How about we do one a little down beat with a kind of intense edge to it.
Me: OK. That'll be good. Anyway I could get a good Dear Mr. Fantasy? Was kinda hoping to hear that this weekend.
Furthur: Yeah, sure. How about if we throw it in somewhere in the second set?
Me: That'd be right on.
Furthur: Sorry to cut the conversation short, but we gotta get off the stage early tonight, so we have to start early and we are already a half hour late to start.
Me: See y'all around.
Later that night during donor rap.
Me: Damn!!! Forgot to tell them the last song on my list of songs I wanted to hear this weekend. And the only way I'm gonna get to hear it is if they bust out a Touch of Grey encore. Wait a minute...I'll be damned.
You can't always get what you want, but it sure is sweet when you do.

Subject: Another peak at Red Rocks
Subject: Another peak at Red Rocks
My sweet Lord, this is a miracle, less than 24 hours ago I was at Red Rocks waiting for this show to begin. What an experience! My first GD show was in Utica NY, March 22, 1973, still one of the high points of my life. My considerable brain damage prevents me from rationally recalling whether that was better than last night at Red Rocks, but it is hard to imagine how it could have been.
Then venue is unique and beyond beautiful, a natural amphitheater surrounded by massive red monoliths. The sound is ideal. The air is a bit thin for an aging east coaster like me, but I managed. Took a party bus from downtown Denver with my son and about 15 deadheads bent on having as much fun as possible, and it was.
The show was better than I would have imagined. Check the setlist, friends. Open with Golden Road into Cassidy. My eyes were streaming tears as I danced; 37 years just fell away. Throwing Stones got very intense, and the set ended with a Big Railroad Blues that was just a headlong rush.
The second set began with Samson & D, which I've been digging lately for some reason, followed by Mr. Fantasy, one of my favorite alltime songs. St. Stephen was a highlight for me since I've long identified with that song, adn Furthur really hit it hard. The big golden moon rose over Denver in the distance as they cranked into an intense Wheel into a joyous full length Sugar Mag. Touch of Grey and Brokedown Palace were enchor.
They played hard, tight and right, charging ahead and turning on a dime. Bob and Phil were both in fine voice, and if hear any bitching about JK on lead guitar and vocals you're gonna have to fight me. The keyboard and drumming are also awesome.
It was such a thrill to be able to share that with my son, who has very wide ranging and adventurous taste in music, but was totally into the Grateful Dead universe thanks to Furthur at Red Rocks.
This recording is magic
