Subject: holy show
I've seen ratdog
I've seen darkstar orchestra
I've seen the dead
I have NEVER seen anything like this before. I was even at the previous night in MN and it doesn't hold a candle to this show.
I happened to be front row far right side by jk, and thank god he turned it on that night cuz i was initially bummed that i wasn't over by phil and jeff! no worries though, things turned out just fine over on my side!
the whole second set was like magic. I felt a lot of "tribute to jerry" vibes in fantasy, fire, rider, peter, alright, gdtrfb, and grey; which is pretty odd for me because i'm so young, i never saw jerry, phil has always been my main man and most of my gd music experience is with countless p&f shows, and I've probably listened to less than 20 gd shows in my whole life.
playin' took you into the depths of a deathly hell, and fire just BLASTED through the darkness and lifted you up like the light of god himself. the other one raged into existence and really added some fun weird flavor. i totally thought china cat was gonna be viola lee, don't know if that was phil being a genius, me just confusing the similar bass lines, or bobby stealing the moment and deciding to play his china licks instead. bid you goodnight was incredible, and i swear at one point during the repetitions of "good night" that they kinda twisted it up a bit because they were leaving the length of the song up to the audience, and then phil slurred the word "morning" right into the word "night" at about 1:37 into the song. on this recording it sounds like it's just jon starting the secondary lyrics, but in person i could see phil's mouth start to say "morning" and then slide right back into the word "night."
good times

Subject: pretty good, not bad
Subject: Magnificent!!
Fisrt set is hot with a blazing hot guitar solo from JK on Alabama. Second set smokes all the way through with a monumental Fire On The Mountain intro jam and one of the better most instrument bending, mind blowing, up-front in your face Other One's you will ever hearfrom this band period. In my 30 years of tripping out listening to the Dead this certainly comes as close as you can get. A must listen...Great sound!! Thank you good buddy!!
Subject: Outstanding!
"Big Bad Blues" Was a special treat.
For those who were there - y'all are LUCKY DUCKS. These guys just keep getting better. I hope to catch them again in 2011.
Subject: Another fun show!!
Sure, like a lot of others, I have my moments of "it could have been a little louder", or, "why did Bobby have to throw Two Djinn in there". But, through a little therapy from friends, I am getting over these things and realizing what a great gift is being bestowed on all who are able to attend. LONG LIVE FURTHUR!!!!
I give this show 5 stars not because it was the best show of the tour but because it sure beat the hell out of anything else I might have been doing instead!!

Subject: thanks Mike
