Notes
Notes:
This was the second night of a 3 day run
for Furthur at the BEC. This show smoked
from the first song. Second set never
slowed down with heavy jamming.
I recorded DFC, OTS with wind
screens and on mic stand at 12
feet. Used the DPA4022 (windscreens)
with Grace Design V3 preamp. The sound
at the venue was louder and more
focused then the first night.
The sound of the recording is good to
very good. Crowd noise is minimal, but
there was one women who screamed almost
non stop second set right in back of
OTS. One concert attendee called her
primal screems "Furthur-gasm", I thought
that was fitting.
Performance: A+

Subject: Fun show, weak setlist.
I had hoped they would play Shakedown (Yea!!), as they didn't play it during their Summer Red Rocks run. Second set was lots of fun until Mr Fantasy/Hey Jude. Sorry, this is filler. There are too many tunes in their repertoire to not have to sing Fantasy or Jude. Lame. One more Saturday nite, while expected (cause it's Saturday) was fun, and maybe should have been the encore. But instead its an Attics encore. While I like Attics, and thought the vocal harmonies were nice. I had to check my pulse after the end of the song. I struggle with bands ending shows on slow tempo'd song. But maybe that's what the boys are all about. Heart stopping show closers. ;P
I'm giving this show 4 stars, because these guys are still my favorite band, and I think this lineup is still better than most of the post-Jerry incarnations. There are some gems in the show, no doubt, just a weak setlist, IMO.
