JK likes his Beatles quotes. Check out the "Stretch the Set" jam on this!
Can't wait to see them in June. They get better all the time.

Is it these cheap headphones or is this one awesome recording?!?! I had to start with the Fool in the Rain. Check out Blair Jackson's blog on bust-outs: http://www.dead.net/features/blairs-golden-road-blog/blairs-golden-road-blog-breakout

Subject: they bring it!
a cold blustery spring day that felt more like november in hampton roads than april...cold steel grey skies, and a wicked wind ripped through shakedown and the lots, and even a drizzle of rain around 2 o'clock. it took forever for the lots to fill up, and rumors of a small crowd filtered through just about every conversation i heard. Hampton Roads is famous for gridlock, and a friday afternoon is probably the worst, and so the lots didn't get heavy until well after 5. the tickets said 730 show time, and the band took the stage at 745. with most people just starting to file in. the room and floor filled up quickly, and though they tried to change the "general admission" policy that is a hampton tradition, there was just no way to keep the people off the floor. every inch of space near the stage filled up quickly, and we had to move towards the back just to find a little moving space. Started up with "Satuday Night" as an apparent april fools joke, which was good, so we wouldn't have to hear it for the rest of the weekend... small crowd or not, the boys really brought it, and even induced a labor in the second set, up in the bowl in the back of the arena! hope that kid came out all right! soon, after the medics carried out the mama to be, people filled right back into the space that was once cleared, and the dancing continued. the jam in the first set was amazing...tight and loose, short and long, notes came and went, sounded like teases throughout, and everyone in our area went into set break knowing that this was a special night. (aren't they all, though, for somebody?) even though the crowd wasn't at full capacity, the vibes in the mothership were powerful, and the boys gave it right back...beatles, led zep, weather report suite, black peter, box of rain...godddamnnn! best lot shirt to sum it all up, was a stealie with the wu-tang clan logo, and on the back it read "grateful dead ain't nothin' to fuck with"...if i had to call it, i'd say a 9 out of 10, with a delighted audience sent out into the night...southern skies cleared up for the rest of the weekend, charleston a 6, and the fox a 10...hampton an incredible 9...

Nice crisp recording. Full Sounding & good separation. Thanks for capturing the audio portion. Had such a fun time at this show. Brings back memories of the last time I was in the Spaceport in 83. Fool in the Rain was such a surprise. Loved IT!!! Tried downloading the zip of the mp3s twice but it's corrupted. ;-(
